A doctor’s personal driver was injured in the neck when he was shot at by a snatch thief near a clinic in Wangsa Maju yesterday.

Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said in the 5.30pm incident, the 25-year-old victim was waiting for his employer beside the car when a man wearing a full-face helmet walked towards him and tried to snatch his sling bag.

“However, the victim fought back and during the struggle, the suspect fired a shot which hit the victim’s neck before fleeing with the bag.

“The suspect then hopped onto a Yamaha 125Z motorcycle ridden by his accomplice who was earlier waiting about 50 metres away,” he said at the scene of the incident.

Zakaria said the injured victim was given emergency treatment by five colleagues at the clinic before taking him to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

“Quick action by his colleagues had probably saved his life and the victim is now in stable condition.” he added.

He said that according to the victim, there were no valuable items in the snatched sling bag except some personal documents.

Police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
