UTM: 47th Convocation Ceremony celebrates 4946 Graduates

The royal highness reminded the graduates that this is only just the beginning of a life-long journey. They should be prepared to face the many challenges of real-life and to make life-long learning part of their lives in order to keep up with the the changing world

 

University Technology Malaysia (UTM) founded in 1956, rcently held a 3 day Convocation Ceremony for the 4,946 Graduates from its institution.

76 students graduated with a Doctorate degree. 842 successfully achieved a Masters degree and 3,543 went home with Bachelors degree. 485 students attained a Diploma.

Some 26 foreign student successful graduated with their local counterparts after completing their postgraduate and degree programs in the ceremony.

The university has expanded nationwide with 4 satellite campuses, 12 branch campuses, 9 city campuses and 19 affiliated colleges. With this network and 15,000 staff, the university offers more than 300 academic programmes.

The Chancellor of UTM, Sultanah Raja Zarith Sufiah during her speech, said that she appreciated the efforts of all the UTM teaching staff for successfully producing the graduates and urge the graduates not to forget the kindness and generosity of their lecturers and parent. She said that they should appreciate all the support they received.

UTM Vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Zaini Ujang in his speech said “Registration for the academic year 2011/2012 saw 3,024 registering for Bachelor Degree programme and 1,787 for higher degree.”

This mark a 56% increase of 12,897 for Bachelor Degree and 44 % for 10,040 for higher degree compared to the last intake.
