Two SJK schools vie for land in Puchong

The SJK (T) Castlefield management board in Puchong today disputed the claim made by Puchong MCA chairman Wong Hock Aun yesterday that a plot of school reserve land earmarked for it in Persiaran Indera, Pusat Bandar Puchong will instead be occupied by SJK © Kheng Chee.

Board chairman Nagamuthu Periasamy said the school has been applying for the 2.4ha land since last year via the district land office and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), and has submitted the relevant documents  for it.

“MCA should do their homework before they talk. We have been applying for the land while they haven’t even started apply,” he said at a press conference with the assemblywoman for Kinrara, Teresa Kok, today.

In a report published in The Star yesterday, Wong said the school, which is being relocated from Pahang, will be ready by 2013. He will be submitting architectural drawings to MPSJ by October.

However, the Tamil school, which is located beside the LDP highway, also plans to relocate to the same plot of land, as LRT project owner Prasarana, will erect six LRT beams on the playing field of the current school site.

“It’s ridiculous to see six pillars coming out of the compound of a school,” said Kok.

She said the state government has no objection against the relocation of the Tamil school as long as the Education Ministry endorses the relocation.

She said the issue will be raised at the next state exco meeting.

“Kheng Chee should be shifted to another site as the land has been applied by Castlefield,” she argues.

“Education Ministry should look into helping this school; and Prasarana must also make a stand to build new buildings for the school,” she said.

Periasamy said Kheng Chee can pick the school reserve lands at the border between Pusat Bandar Puchong and Puchong Jaya, or the one in Bandar Puteri Puchong if they need a place.

MCA: Approval obtained for Kheng Chee

First opened in 1988, Castlefield is one of two Tamil schools in Puchong and teach some 500 students.

Meanwhile, Wong, when responded to the remarks, said he did the announcements based on an approval issued by Education Ministry.

“That approval letter comes from the ministry. Do you think it can be untrue?” he asked.

He said he was told by Tmn Wawasan developer SP Setia that the land has been surrendered to Education Ministry.

“Then I applied from the ministry and now I got the approval.”

“If Teresa Kok wants to help, she should find another plot of state land for the Tamil school,” he said.
