The Air Pollution Index (API) reading showed that 22 areas in the country have good air quality while 28 more areas
recorded moderate quality as at 11am today.
The Department of Environment (DOE) also reported that no area had recorded unhealthy API.
According to the DOE website, five areas with the lowest API readings were Bintulu, Sarawak (17), Langkawi, Kedah (18), Miri, Sarawak (20), Limbang, Sarawak (23) and Kangar, Perlis (23).
The API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
According to the DOE, the hazy condition is expected to persist for several more days and members of the public are advised not to carry out open burning and cooperate in putting out small fires.
