The Johor Bahru Toastmasters club recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Toastmasters’ clubs around the world are open to the public. Cindy Wong, the organising chairperson of the JB club says: “The toastmaster club can help people develop competence, confidence and character.”
The Johor Bharu Toastmasters club is the first public speaking support group of its kind in the state.
James Saravanan, the president of JB Toastmasters 2011-2012, said in his speech that, “The toastmasters helped me fulfill my inner most desires and acknowledge the talents within me.” (No less!)
A number of their past presidents together with founders of the club from as far as New Zealand recently had a gathering.
Numerous members gave heart-warming speeches of how being members of the club helped them in various aspects of their lives. Camaraderie among the club members was strong, and they clearly share a passion.
