Travel advisory from PLUS for Aidilfitri

PLUS Expressways Bhd (PLUS) today issued a time travel advisory (TTA) to ensure smooth traffic flow in conjunction with Hari Raya and Merdeka Day celebrations, which fall on Aug 30 and 31.

It also introduced a new system by separating vehicles with registration plate numbers ending with an odd number from those ending with an even number.

PLUS managing director Noorizah Abd Hamid said the move was aimed at separating road users from northern and southern states, including those who would return to Kuala Lumpur from Sept 1 to 4.

“Those returning to Kuala Lumpur on Sept 1 to 4 are advised to enter the expressway before noon. Vehicles with registration plate numbers ending with an even number are advised to start their journey when the clock is at an even number, either at 8am or 10am.

“While vehicles with registration plate numbers ending with an odd number are advised to enter the expressway when the clock is at an odd number, either at 9am or 11am,” she told a press conference at the Menara Korporat, Persada PLUS in Subang, Petaling Jaya today.

Meanwhile, those from Klang Valley heading north between Aug 27 and 29 are advised to start their journey as follows:
Before noon for destinations in Perlis, Kedah and Penang; Between noon and 3pm for Taiping, Kuala Kangsar and Changkat Jering; Between 3pm and 6pm for Ipoh, Simpang Pulai and Gopeng; After 6pm for Tapah, Bidor, Slim River and Tanjung Malim.

The TTA for those heading south: Before 10am for Skudai, Johor Baru, Senai and Kulai; Between 10am and 1pm for Ayer Hitam, Yong Peng and Tangkak; Between 1pm and 3pm for Melaka via Ayer Keroh; Between 3pm and 6pm for Tampin and Alor Gajah via Simpang Ampat; After 6pm for Senawang, Port Dickson and Seremban.

Noorizah said PLUS expected the number of vehicles using the expressway during the exodus to increase by 30 percent to 1.4 million vehicles daily as compared to the current 1.1 million.

She said 3,000 PLUS personnel would be placed at its toll plazas and rest and service (R&R) areas along the expressway during the celebration.
