Kinrara assemblywoman Teresa Kok embraced the Ramadan spirit by hosting a ‘buka puasa’ dinner with the needy at Pangsapuri Sri Tanjung in USJ 16, recently.
The state senior exco mingled well with the local folks before inviting them to a feast filled with mouth-watering dishes such as kerabu, kambing rendang, curry chicken and kuih kochi.
Single mothers, orphans, the poor and old folks were also remembered during the holy month as some 41 of them received a green packet each from Kok, while 5 of them received a pack of rice each.
Puchong MP Gobind Singh also attended the dinner.
Kok said she felt glad to have her first buka puasa treat at the flats, which is seen as the poorest area in USJ.
“I am happy to see the huge turn up and it proves that the Bersih rally did not hinder the Malay away from the state government,” she said.
Pangsapuri Sri Tanjung joint management committee secretary Rubi Isni Zainuddin was thankful that the event could be successfully organized.
“I believe the aid recipients will now have an extra budget to buy stuffs for Hari Raya,” she said.
