A group of Malaysian supporters are planning a cheering mission to 26th SEA Games 2011 in Pelembang,Indonesia from 17 Nov to 26 Nov 2011.

A group of Malaysian supporters are planning a cheering mission to 26th SEA Games 2011 in Pelembang,Indonesia from Thu 17 Nov to Sat 26 Nov 2011.

This will be their fifth SEA Games cheer mission after previous SEA Games campaigns in Ho Chi Minh,Vietnam (2003),Manila,Phillipines (2005),Korat,Thailand(2007) and Vientiane,Laos (2009).

Chairman of Kelab Penyokong Sukan Malaysia Famemas,Lee Hui Seng says, ‘Although the number of supporters going are relatively small this time, nevertheless we plan to harness the strength of the Malaysian Contingent by gathering Malaysians studying in Palembang,Malaysian Embassy staff,other supporters, athletes and officials to provide the much needed cheer to stimulate the performance of our athletes.’

‘Our Group likes to attend multi-sports events like Asian Games and SEA Games because it provides an avenue to witness as many sports as possible within the one week time frame.Now we are extending our courteous invitation to all patriotic and  sports loving Malaysians to join us in this worthwhile mission and ‘National Service.’ he added.

The chief aim of the mission is to provide moral and vocal support to our national athletes featuring in the Games.The Club has started intensive preparations for the trip, including organising a Sorak Sihat 1Malaysia event on 17 July 2011 to provide training to members on the proper and finer techniques of cheering .

This is the 9th year in operation for the club, which has counted to its credit, 3 Asian Games cheer campaigns in Busan
(2002). Doha (2006) and Guangzhou (2010).

During the 10 day stint, supporters will be shuttling from stadium to stadium,cheering on our athletes in sports such as
athletics,gymnastics,sepak takraw,swimming,weighlifting and diving.

The group will cover up to 4 sports per day, in accordance with wishes of the Malaysian Chef De Mission and Malaysian Secretariat there.

‘We hope our athletes will perform up to expectations and of course we will be there to support them in their times of need.As we expect most of the competition venues to be filled to capacity and even if we do not get into the stadiums to cheer our heroes, we will still be staying around the public areas to foster friendship with fans from other ASEAN countries and make our presence felt in promoting Malaysian tourism’ Lee added.

There will also be some time allocated for members to relax and unwind as they will be taken to several sight seeing places of interest.
