The Sibu Municipal Council plans to cap the number of reflexology and health centres in the town, which already boasts 69 such places.
Its chairman, Tiong Thai King, said the number was sufficient for a municipality with a population of 210,000.
He said the council was considering 11 new applications and, if they met the criteria, would give its approval so that the centres would be capped at 80.
Tiong said the decision was based on public feedback, adding that there had been complaints also from concerned housewives.
He advised the operators of the centres to strictly observe the operating hours, from 10 am to 12.20 am.
Tiong also said that the council would continue to take action against litterbugs.
