Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor today issued a reminder to keep party politics out of Universiti Selangor
(UNISEL).
He said the academic staff at the university should focus fully on their duties and stay away from politicking as this could affect the development of its students.
He also said it would also be a loss for the university if its students spent more time on campus politics than on their studies.
“I do not want politicians or outsiders giving political talks at the university. The university is a place for human capital development not politics,” he said when opening UNISEL Bestari Jaya campus’ mosque here today.
Sultan Sharafuddin said he received many complaints from parents about politicking at UNISEL and that if this were to continue, the university might lose students as they would no longer be keen to send their children there for further studies.
At the function, the Sultan also handed over Aidifitri aid to 193 students of the university who came from needy families.
Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar.
