Y.E.S Live! Broadway Showcase in KL

Kuala Lumpur – YES Live Broadway Showcase presented a night of high energy dance and performance.

The YES Live Broadway Showcase returns to Malaysia for the second year in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur on the 16th June 2013 at the Soka Gokkai Wisma Kebudayaan SGM.

Program Director of  Musical Theartre and Hip Hop in American Voice Michael Parks said” The performers are  local dancers between the age of 18 to 25 years old and they have been trained  by incorporating short practices into their daily schedules for the past four months.

“The core group of 20 dancers are joined by another 39 youths from the Soka Gakkai Malaysia.

“The Show features high energy musical numbers from award winning Broadway shows namely Hairspray, Wicked, Newsies, Rent and Grease.”

The “Your Excellence on Stage” (YES) Showcase is supported by the US Embassy Kuala Lumpur and organised by American Voices, an American NGO which provides youth with comprehensive training in uniquely American genres of music, dance and theatre.

In his opening address,  the deputy president of Soka Gokkai Malaysia (SGM) Prof. Dr Christopher Boey said that SGM is proud to be associated with this program together with the US Embassy of Kuala Lumpur.

He continued by saying ” The organising of this Showcase is in-keeping with the mission of SGM and hopes that the promotion of culture will help to strengthen the friendships among fellow human beings both within Malaysia and outside Malaysia”

It being the 29th Anniversary of SGM in Malaysia, the dance performers performed a special number and presented an Anniversary Cake to Prof. Dr Boey, the deputy president of SGM.
