Two non-governmental organisations today submitted a memorandum to the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) in appreciation of the police handling of the illegal gathering on July 9.
The Malaysian Muslim People’s Coalition (IRIMM) and the Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) handed over the memorandum to Suhakam commissioner Prof Dr Mahmood Zahdi at the Suhakam office.
“The good deed of the police in controlling the situation succeeded in averting untoward incidents,” IRIMM secretary-general Thajudeen Mohideen told reporters after handing over the memorandum to Dr Mahmood.
He also said that allegations that the police had used force against the participants of the rally were not relevant.
