Federal departments and agencies, especially those renting commercial premises, have been asked to step up security following a case of theft of information communication technology equipment.
State Federal Secretary Md Yahaya Basimin such cases not only incurred losses to the government, but the loss of valuable information from these equipment also impeded staff performance.
“Therefore, department heads are urged to improve the level of security at their premises, including making extra keys, installing closed-circuit television cameras, employing security guards and obtaining advice from the government’s chief security office,” he told reporters after launching the Sarawak-level Jalur Gemilang Campaign at the Sultan Iskandar Building, here, today.
With the Hari Raya festive holidays coming up, he said department heads should also request for the authorities to patrol their area when the employees are away in their hometowns.
On the campaign held in conjunction with the 54th Merdeka Month and Malaysia Day celebrations, he said federal agencies needed to set an example by flying the Jalur Gemilang at their premises in the spirit of patriotism.
About 1,000 flags were distributed to civil servants at the event and fixed on official government vehicles.
