Twenty passengers and two drivers escaped unhurt when a north-bound express bus skidded and hit the divider at Km299 of the North-South Expressway yesterday.

The bus, which was travelling from Johor to Kuala Lumpur, was believed to have skidded when one of its front tyres punctured, causing the driver to lose control before it slammed the divider at about 6.40pm, said a Kajang traffic police spokesman.

The accident caused a massive traffic jam which lasted for about 30 minutes. Bus driver P.Veluthan, 48, said he was badly shaken by the accident but was relieved as none of the passengers were hurt.

“I could feel one the front tyres had burst moments before the accident before I lost control of bus,” he told reporters at the scene.
