Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Kadir does not think that the residents of Meru Tin in Jelapang would solve any problem by staging a march to pressure the state government.
However, it is up to them what they decide to do, he told reporters today when asked to comment on the reported intention of the residents to stage a march.
The residents want the state government to solve a problem related to land which emerged after the contractor withdrew from the project to make Meru Tin part of the Structured Villages Plan.
“If they think marching will solve the problem, they should solve the problem themselves,” Zambry said.
The villagers were reportedly aroused when told by certain quarters that the land that the government was selling to them for RM12,300 should have been given to them for free.
Zambry said that the state government was trying to resolve the matter, but some people “want to be heroes.”
The contractor, Saka Bumi Sdn Bhd, said the company had lost RM300,000 because the villagers kept changing their minds.
