2,000 people are expected to have a durian feast at Jom Durian IV, the biggest charity durian fest in aid of the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia at Subang Parade in Subang Jaya this weekend.
“We have just been informed that this event will also be acknowledged as the Biggest Charity Durian Fest in the Malaysia Book of Records.”
“The support and response from the corporate sector and members of the public has been overwhelming,” CWS Malaysia president Ramon Navaratnam said.
He said it was encouraging to experience a sell-out crowd days before the event itself, as all of the 1,400 tickets have been sold out.
“It shows Malaysians are a caring lot and they care for the well-being of the sick children out there who need a smile.”
“Doing charity can be fun too and that we shall definitely have fun this Sunday (July 3) at Subang Parade,” he said.
Subang Jaya Municipal Council’s new president Asmawi Kasbi is expected at the event and subsequently launch it in his maiden public event appearance.
Funds raised from the event will be channeled to the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia, a Subang Jaya based national charity which fulfills the wishes of children stricken with life-threatening or terminal illnesses across the country.
Hosted and sponsored by Subang Parade, Jom Durian IV this year has gained the support of many corporate sponsors.
They include Hektar Group and New Straits Times as the two main title sponsors followed by Empire Shopping Gallery, Cocoaland, Telekom Malaysia, Nestle Malaysia, Sime Darby Property, Greenhill Residence, Panda Security, Mydin, Yuki Hana, United Overseas Bank and Pfizer Malaysia.
Also lending their support are Kelana Jaya Member of Parliament Loh Gwo-Burne, Subang Jaya State Assemblyman Hannah Yeoh and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council.
