Malaysian Indian Education Transformation Association (MIETA) jointly with several other non governmental organisations will be organising a peaceful protest on January 26, 2014 at Brickfields. The group wants the Health Ministry to recognize Crimea State Medical University Medicine (CSMU) degree soon.

Despite eight (8) supporting letters issued by Prime Minister Najib Razak, MIC President G. Palanivel and other leaders Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) remain tight lip on the status of recognition of said university. CSMU was initially recognized in 2001 before MMC derecognized it in 2005 without assigning any reason.

According to Elangovan Annamalai National Chairman of MEITA , MMC recognise colleges with less facilities and experience both in Malaysia and overseas but it failed with CSMU. Furthermore cost of doing medical in Malaysia range between RM250,000 to RM800,000 while CSMU only charges RM 120,000 for entire study period.

The group decided to hold a peace protest after 8 years of waiting and wants the recognition to be done within next one month.
