The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) is set to register about 100,000 Indian Muslims aged 21 and above to be voters this year so that they can vote in the 13th general election.
Kimma is an organisation that is officially affiliated with the Barisan Nasional ruling coalition.
Its president, Syed Ibrahim Kader said KIMMA would initiate the effortas soon as possible throughout the nation by forming the 1KIMMA squad.
“We will register all of them through the squad which will be launched in a few week’s time for the purpose of organising road-shows throughout the country,” he told reporters after accompanying Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on his walkabout in Jalan Masjid India, yesterday.
Syed Ibrahim said special programmes would be held in each state for the registration exercise and hoped that it could be carried out within three months after the launching of the squad.
According to Syed Ibrahim, the 360,000 Indian Muslim voters who have registered as voters, promised to give their full support to BN in the coming general election.
