The Federal government plans to revive the Malayan Islamic College (KIM) and place it under the administration
of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the college would operate from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) campus for the time being.
“We will discuss the permanent location of its new campus with Jakim,” he told reporters after KIM’s first board meeting at UIAM today.
The college, formed in 1955, ceased operations in 1970 to make way for University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
It is being revived in line with the government’s policy to transform Islamic higher education in the country.
