Security boost for FA Cup at national stadium

The national stadium at Bukit Jalil will have 2,430 policemen and 400 members of the People’s Volunteer Corps for the final FA match on 11 June.

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 2,430 policemen and 400 members of the People’s Volunteer Corps will be on duty at National Stadium Bukit Jalil for the final FA Cup match between Kelantan and Terengganu on 11 June. Vice-president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, said measures will be taken to ensure maximum security during the match.

About 85,000 supporters from both the teams are expected to be at the stadium for the final match, he said, when met after chairing the FA Cup Final Match Coordinating Committee meeting here yesterday. Tickets for the final match will be sold from 6 June by the football associations of both states.

Meanwhile, Internal Security and Public Order director, Datuk Salleh Abdul Rashid, who is also the FAM Security Committee chairman, hopes supporters of both teams will be disciplined and not cause any untoward incidents during the match.
