SEREMBAN – Negeri Sembilan Wildlife Department seized two crocodiles of the ‘buaya tembaga’ species, a deer antler and a cobra skin from a house in Taman Marida, Senawang near here yesterday. Its director Mohd Zaide Mohamed Zin said they conducted the raid at 11.30 am, based on information from the public, and discovered the two crocodiles in a tank.
A 61-year-old man, who is believed to be the owner of the crocodiles and other items seized, had been detained and taken to the Senawang police station for questioning, he told reporters. Reporters were also told tha the man in question was later released on police bail.
The two crocodiles measuring 81 and 60 inches respectively were sent to the Melaka Zoo for examination and treatment. Mohd Zaide appealed for the public to contact Negeri Sembilan Wildlife Department at 06-7616998 with any information on people owning endangered wildlife to curb the threat of extinction.
