KUALA LUMPUR – Wedding is the new black. Jumping on the sunrise wedding industry bandwagon, the Information Communication and Culture Ministry has set a sales target of RM5.5 mil from the wedding promotion event organised by its agency, Kraftangan Malaysia, this year as compared to last year’s target of RM4.75 million.
Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz said the target was achievable, arising from the increase in the number of participating entrepreneurs who were offering various wedding decorations and accessories with high quality and reasonable price. He said 146 entrepreneurs and 105 wedding consultants were taking part in the 12-day promotion, held at Craft Complex in Jalan Conlay here, beginning yesterday.
“The Wedding Promotion 2011 will become the key performance indicator (KPI) for Kraftangan Malaysia, which has been organising the event since 2003,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
The promotion is open to public from 10am to 8pm from Sunday to Thursday and from 10am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday.
Among the activities lined up for the event are traditional wedding demonstrations involving Orang Ulu Kayan community on 28 May, Baba and Nyonya community on 29 May, Orang Asli Temiar community on 1 June, Siamese community on 3 June, Punjabi/Sikh on 4 June and Malay community on 5 June.
