A six-year-old boy, who failed to return home after going out to visit his grandfather’s shop yesterday afternoon, was found drowned at the Kampung Lalang river, Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar today.

A six-year-old boy, who failed to return home after going out to visit his grandfather’s shop yesterday afternoon, was found drowned at the Kampung Lalang river, Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar today.

The body of Mohd Haikal Wazir was found floating at the river at 10.28am today by a search team, Kuala Kangsar OCPD Supt Abdul Ghaffar Muhammad said.

The victim was reported missing at 6.30pm after he failing to return from the shop located not far from his house.

“He was believed to have slipped into the river and been swept away by the current,” Abdul Ghaffar said when contacted.

A search team comprising police, Rela and Fire and Rescue Department personnel launched a search for the missing boy following the report.
