For the seventh year, the Media Specialists Association (MSA) is organising the Malaysian Media Awards 2011 (MMA 2011) to celebrate outstanding media campaigns.
Media agencies in Malaysia account for an inordinate 70 percent of total ad spend (estimated RM8 billion) in the country. Malaysia is also the only country in the region with a Media Specialists Association, a fact which goes towards explaining this statistic.
Andy Miller, CEO of Vizeum Malaysia and chairman of the awards organising committee said: “For the awards, we judge what the challenge is, the media strategy adopted, the execution of the strategy and results achieved for the brands involved.”
The Malaysian Media Awards 2011 (MMA 2011) has 12 categories: Best Use of Televison; Newspapers; Magazines; Radio; Digital (online/interactive/mobile);Digital Search; Sponsorship; Out of Home Media; Point of Sale; Branded Content on TV; Small Budget (under RM100,000), excluding digital, and Integrated Media Campaign.
The awards are organised by the Media Specialists Association (MSA), whose 20 member agencies, as mentioned above, collectively represent 70 percent of all media billings placed in Malaysia.
Last year, there were 250 entries that showed positive results in the face of a consumer spending downturn. “Our aim will be to showcase these as an aid to media agencies and clients to underline the importance and the power of strategic and creative thinking in media,” said Miller.
This year, in the interest of transparency, the MSA will be inviting representatives from the 2As and 4As to join its judging panel.
All agencies are urged to submit online using the form on www.mymsa.org/mma2011 and supported with a compact disc before 27 May 2011 before 5pm.
This year’s event will be held on July 1 at One World Hotel in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.
