Sepilok to host Borneo Rhythms of Rimba Wild Festival

SANDAKAN – The event organised by the Future Alam Borneo will be highlighting the amazing tapestry of Borneo’s biodiversity.

The first ever Borneo Rhythms of Rimba Wild Festival (ROR) will be held this 3rd and 4th October at Rainforest Discovery Centre in Sepilok, Sandakan.

The event which will be organised by the non profit organisation Future Alam Borneo will be highlighting the amazing tapestry of our biodiversity, and expand it into an annual celebration of Borneo’s wildlife and forests.

Most of the presentations on wildlife, nature and indigenous music are expected to be helmed by government officials, conversationist and academicians

Among the organisations, which are expected take part are Sabah Forestry Department, Land Empowerment Animals People (Leap), Borneo Rhino Alliance (Bora), Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC), HUTAN, Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC), University of St Andrew’s Scotland, University Malaysia Sabah, Reef Guardian, and many other.

The centre which is located near the lush 4,294 hectares (10,610 acres) tropical forest of Sepilok will also host performances by Amir Yussof, Jason Lo, Pink Tan, Carburetor Dung, Guba, Jin Se to name a few.

The festival is supported by the Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Sabah Forestry Department, the Embassy of United States of America, corporate organisation and many other passionate individuals.

The idea of organising a festival celebrate the wildlife, arts and biodiversity was mooted by a group of friends, which was eventually became reality through the environmental awareness society Future Alam Borneo.
