The Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) has achieved a remarkable milestone by ranking 4th in the AppliedHE Private University Ranking: ASEAN 2025.
This recognition cements APU’s reputation as a leading educational institution in the region and the second-highest-ranked private university in Malaysia.
Released on 18 November 2024, the rankings by AppliedHE, a renowned Southeast Asian higher education agency, focus on quality and relevance.
APU driving innovation through education
Founded in 1993, APU has established itself as a leader in technological innovation and education.
Its flagship programmes, like the Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Artificial Intelligence), align with Malaysia’s National AI Roadmap, equipping students with the skills to thrive in the digital age.
Recognised as a Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), APU operates from Technology Park Malaysia, a hub for cutting-edge research and industry collaboration.
This strategic location fosters partnerships with leading organisations, enhancing career opportunities and delivering industry-relevant education to students.
Professor Kevin Downing, Chairperson of the AppliedHE Ranking Advisory Board, praised the rankings for their focus on practical outcomes.
“The AppliedHE rankings showcase excellence based on highly relevant, internationally recognised criteria,” he said.
A global community with world-class recognition
With students from over 130 countries, APU offers a truly global learning environment, fostering cultural awareness and preparing graduates to excel in an interconnected world.
APU’s accolades extend beyond the AppliedHE rankings. It became the first Malaysian university accredited by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
Earlier this year, it earned the prestigious QS 5-Stars Plus Rating and a spot in the QS World University Rankings 2025, placing it among the top 2.1% of universities worldwide.
The evaluation emphasises key factors like Teaching and Learning (40%), Employability (15–20%), Research, Internationalisation, Community Engagement, and Institutional Reputation.
APU CEO Datuk Parmjit Singh called the achievement “a significant milestone” and credited the university’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
“This ranking reflects our relentless pursuit of academic excellence and global impact,” he stated.
The latest recognition by AppliedHE underscores APU’s unwavering focus on academic excellence, innovation, and employability.
Through its state-of-the-art facilities, exceptional faculty, and strategic partnerships, APU continues to shape the future of education in Southeast Asia.
