While co-sleeping is common in Malaysia—National Health and Morbidity Survey findings indicate that 61.1% of Malaysian mothers sleep with their babies, and more than 60% share the same bed during the first week—this practice can sometimes lead to unintended harm.
Tragic cases, such as a three-month-old baby in Melaka who died after his father suffered a sudden heart attack and collapsed onto him during co-sleeping, underscore the risks.
