Mamaway Malaysia, a leading maternity and infant care hub, has launched its Baby Box Campaign, a nationwide CSR initiative offering free Finnish Baby Boxes to expecting mothers and parents of newborns. Running year-round, the campaign aims to provide a safe sleeping environment for infants while giving parents peace of mind during the critical first days of parenthood.
Inspired by Finland’s decades-old Baby Box tradition, which has safeguarded generations of babies worldwide, the Mamaway Finnish Baby Box offers a secure, breathable, and clutter-free sleeping space. While co-sleeping is common in Malaysia—National Health and Morbidity Survey findings indicate that 61.1% of Malaysian mothers sleep with their babies, and more than 60% share the same bed during the first week—this practice can sometimes lead to unintended harm.
Tragic cases, such as a three-month-old baby in Melaka who died after his father suffered a sudden heart attack and collapsed onto him during co-sleeping, underscore the risks. Mamaway hopes the Baby Box will reduce such incidents without compromising the closeness parents value. “Parenting isn’t about how much money you spend, it’s about knowing the right methods. Mamaway is like a safety net. If you want to go through this stage, we won’t let you fall,” said Deborah Liu, Founder of Mamaway.
More than a box
Beyond offering a safe space for sleep, the Finnish Baby Box includes a medical-grade hydrofoam mattress that is hypoallergenic, non-toxic, and has passed 223 SGS toxicity tests compliant with European standards. The sturdy, portable design makes it easy for parents to keep their baby close while cooking, cleaning, or resting. Mamaway emphasizes that the Baby Box is more than a product—it’s a companion designed to reduce parenting struggles and enhance family bonding.
For two decades, Mamaway has supported mothers through products, knowledge, and community outreach. By introducing this campaign, the company hopes to balance traditional practices with modern safety measures. “As a trusted partner in every stage of motherhood, Mamaway’s role goes beyond products; it’s about shaping safer, healthier beginnings for families,” the company stated.
How parents can redeem their Finnish Baby Box
Expecting mothers can claim their free Finnish Baby Box by presenting their Buku Pink (the official government maternity record book) at participating Mamaway outlets—IOI City Mall (Putrajaya), Bellisa Row (Penang), Mid Valley Megamall (Kuala Lumpur), Setia Tropika (Johor Bahru), and Mid Valley Southkey (Johor Bahru).
Mothers with infants under two months are also eligible to redeem the Baby Box, with the option to purchase the certified mattress at 50% off with any purchase. Mamaway hopes this affordable solution will encourage more parents to adopt safer sleep practices.
For further details and updates, parents can visit Mamaway’s official website, Facebook, or Instagram. Through this initiative, Mamaway underscores its long-standing mission: to be a safety net for Malaysian families and ensure every baby begins life surrounded by care and security.
