Vasakhi Golf gets green light from Tourism Minister

KUALA LUMPUR – The Taiping Sikh Association is organising the golf competition to promote Visit Malaysia 2020 and national integrity

Tourism Minister YB Dato’Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz gave his endorsement for the inaugural Vasakhi Golf to be played at Swiss-Garden Golf Resort and Spa Damai Laut, Perak on April 28 and  Austin Height Golf and Hotel Resort, Johor on May 5 respectively. He gave the okay when Taiping Sikh Association president Dato Balraaj Singh made a courtesy call at his Kuala Kangsar residence 18 March.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri endorsed and welcomes the effort by Taiping Sikh Association and Asia Golfing Network (AGN) to conduct the event and endorses it by symbolically signing a promotional poster.

The Sri Guru Singh Sabha Taiping or better known as the Taiping Sikh Association is organising the golf competition to promote Visit Malaysia 2020 and national integrity. Officially the event is called Golf Amal Muhibbah Vasakhi 2018.

Tee off time will be at 8.00am inclusive of breakfast and lunch. Entry fee for Damai Laut is set at RM199.00 while Austin Heights at RM280.00. Both dates of the tournaments will be held after their Vasakhi Open House (Sikh holy day) that falls on Saturday 14 April this year.

Golfers can look forward to nice free goodies and win attractive prizes too. The grand lucky draw prize is a 3 day 2 night stay and play package at Ria Bintan Golf Club, Indonesia.

Dato’ Balraaj said, “This is the first time the Taiping Sikh Association is holding such an event and the objective of the golf tournament is to promote tourism. We hope golfers will bring their families to visit these lovely golf resorts. We are grateful to Dato Seri Mohamed Nazri for his endorsement and indebted to Gurdev Singh of Asia Golfing Network (AGN) in helping manage and executing both these golf tournaments for Taiping Sikhs”.

“We can look forward making this an annual golf game. We also will use golf as a platform to raise funds for needy folks living around Taiping regardless of their race and religion,” concluded Dato’ Balraaj.

The association also operates a soup kitchen for the underprivileged in Taiping.
