Home owners of Pangsapuri Nuri in Sungai Ara had reasons to rejoice as they received keys to their apartments this morning in a ceremony officiated by the Chief Minister of Penang.

Pangsapuri Nuri is located within the Setia Pearl Island housing development which spreads across 112.6 acres of land.

Lim Guan Eng congratulated the proud owners and said that he hoped that the residents appreciated the facilities provided and that they maintained the cleanliness in their surroundings.

“We should take the initiative to upgrade our living standards,” Lim said with reference to the reported cases associated with low-cost apartments.

“As residents, we should prioritize the environment we live in. If we are not responsible, the comforts and beauty (of the environment) will not last,” he added.

Lim also commended SP Setia, the developer for Pangsapuri Nuri for building the 360 units of low-cost units exceeding its minimal requirement of 200 units. A total of RM25 million was channelled towards the completion of these two blocks of apartments.

Each apartment was priced at RM42,000 and at a subsidized cost of RM68,000 per unit.

Just 4 kilometres away from the beautifully landscaped Setia Pearl Island, SP Setia had just embarked on another project called SP Green.

This project will have 149 units of 3-storey terraced and 18 units of semi-detached houses. The terraced units will have a land area of 20’ x 65’, whereas the semi-detached 32’ x 80’.

Prices start from RM898,880 onwards for the terraced and RM1.6 million onwards for the semi-detached.

Yeoh Chee Beng, the Sales and Marketing manager for SP Setia revealed that this project is the first project in Penang to incorporate green features.

“We hope to set an example and encourage more green features in all new projects,” Yeoh said, adding that SP Green will be certified according to the Green Building Index (GBI), an accreditation body governed by Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM).

The 5 key green features includes cool roofing system, water efficient fitting, rain water harvesting, low volatile organic compound (VOC) and solar water heater panels.
