Inaugural Borneo Music Festival attracts over 6,000 fans

The first-of-its-kind Borneo Music Festival brought together world-renowned artists from over six countries, uniting different music genres on one platform.

Over 6,000 people attended the inaugural Borneo Music Festival 2022 at Sarawak Cultural Village, Santubong, last weekend.

The festival is staged by Amazing Aurora Entertainment and organised by Firmament Event Studio in collaboration with More Entertainment.

The first-of-its-kind outdoor music festival will bring together world-renowned artists from over six countries worldwide, uniting different music genres on one platform.

Among the artists is Alan Walker from the UK, DJ Soda from the land of K-pop, DJ Alexis Grace, DJ Ice Cream, DJ Chacha, and DJ MYVAX.

Meanwhile, the regional artists include DJ Paul from Malaysia, Nicole Chen from Singapore, DJ X Factor from the Philippines, DJ Venom C and Moski Love from Indonesia.

The festival also featured a stellar line-up of Malaysian singers such as Rynn Lim, ThomasJack and Priscilla Abby, together with Sarawakian band At Adau and Tuku Kame”.

British-born Norwegian DJ, Alan Olav Walker, primarily known for the highly acclaimed single ”Faded” in 2015, made the headline for the second leg of the festival on Saturday.

The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak supported the festival.

Sarawak’s minister for tourism, creative industry and performing arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said he was glad that Sarawak was coming alive again with the festival staged this year after two years of postponement.

“With a line-up of well-known international artists, especially DJ Alan Walker from the United Kingdom and DJ Soda from South Korea, large-scale live music events such as this strengthen Sarawak’sSarawak’s position as a prime destination in the region.

“It also goes to show that Sarawak is an ideal destination for music tourism in Malaysia and the region, whether it’s world music, jazz, country, or popular music,” said Abdul Karim.

“We have seen that since April 1, 2022, many tourists have arrived in Sarawak, and I understand, based on the hotel operators, the rooms have been fully booked in Kuching, Sibu or Miri.

Sarawak has lined up many festivals towards the end of this year, with Kuching Jazz 2022 taking place at the Grand Margherita Hotel on Oct 28 and 29.
