Sika Malaysia and PINTAR Foundation’s gotong-royong drive aids 3,000 students, providing essential supplies to underprivileged communities.

In a commendable display of corporate social responsibility, Sika Malaysia, a leading specialty chemicals company, has joined forces with PINTAR Foundation to conduct a gotong-royong drive, significantly benefiting schools across Malaysia. The initiative, aimed at enhancing educational environments for underprivileged students, highlights the company’s dedication to community involvement and environmental stewardship.

The gotong-royong drive saw the active participation of over 400 Sika Malaysia employees, impacting five schools and benefiting more than 3,000 students and 250 teachers. These schools, located within Sika Malaysia’s operational regions, include Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato’ Ahmad Manaf in Nilai; Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Bukit Darah in Sungai Buloh, Selangor; Sekolah Kebangsaan Telok Gong in Telok Gong, Selangor; Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jalan Pasir Puteh in Ipoh; and Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Indahpura 2 in Kulai, Johor.

“I am very pleased to see the enthusiasm and dedication of the employees who came to the ground and successfully carried out the gotong-royong drive, making a significant impact on the underprivileged students,” said Francisco Retondo, General Manager of Sika Malaysia. He expressed his gratitude to PINTAR Foundation for their collaboration, emphasizing Sika Malaysia’s commitment to societal and environmental stewardship.

The initiative included not only physical improvements to the school environments but also the donation of approximately 3,300 stationery sets to the students, providing them with essential supplies for their education.

This CSR initiative is part of Sika’s broader global community engagement, themed ‘One Team. Many Voices. Going Beyond Together’ for this year’s Sika Day, observed annually on 11th June. The event brings together over 33,000 employees worldwide, participating in various activities to aid local communities and create lasting benefits for generations to come. This year, Sika employees worldwide have achieved an impressive 10,000 days of community engagement.
