Bakers set record with 150,000 cookies for charity

Malaysian bakers set a record by baking 150,000 cookies for Cadbury’s charity campaign, transforming lives and supporting underserved communities.

The Malaysian Book of Records has recognized the exceptional efforts of bakers from Lembah Subang and Seri Pantai PPR in Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Kuih Raya Dari Hati initiative. These dedicated individuals have earned the prestigious title of ‘Most Cadbury Chocolate Cookies Baked for a Charity Campaign’ by producing an astounding 150,000 cookies in just two weeks. This remarkable achievement highlights the strength and resilience of these bakers, who have not only transformed their own lives but also brought joy and support to their communities during the festive season.

The initiative, powered by Cadbury Dairy Milk, saw 15 passionate and skilled bakers, all of whom are cottage business entrepreneurs and beneficiaries of the MyKasih Foundation, come together to create an impressive 2,000 tubs of Cadbury Chocolate and Cheese Tarts. These were purchased by Cadbury Dairy Milk Malaysia and distributed to over 30 welfare homes and underserved communities in the Klang Valley, with the help of the Food Aid Foundation. This collaboration underscores the potential of empowerment and support in transforming lives and inspiring others to pursue their dreams.

Stories of Resilience and Dedication

Leading the team of bakers at Lembah Subang PPR was Nur Sharzi Bashar, 41, who shared her personal connection to the project: “This project means a lot to me personally – my late sister and I had a dream of opening a café together, and this is helping me keep my dream alive.” Her story is a testament to how personal aspirations and community support can intertwine to create meaningful change.

Corporate Support and Future Prospects

See Mei Sin, Marketing Head for Malaysia and Singapore at Mondelēz International, praised the bakers’ determination: “The determination shown by these women has been nothing short of remarkable, and we hope this initiative encourages them to further develop their skills and explore new opportunities in the baking industry. At Cadbury Dairy Milk, we are proud to support passion and creativity.” The initiative reflects Cadbury Dairy Milk’s commitment to fostering a spirit of generosity and community support in Malaysia.

Since its inception in 2021, Kuih Raya Dari Hati has evolved from simply inspiring Malaysians to bake with Cadbury to encouraging support for communities in need. This year’s initiative is an extension of #MDLZPrihatin, a long-term collaboration between Mondelēz International (Malaysia) and MyKasih, aimed at supporting and empowering underserved families and communities. Through these efforts, Cadbury Dairy Milk and its partners continue to champion the cause of community empowerment, showcasing how corporate support can significantly impact local communities and inspire broader social change.

The success of the bakers from Lembah Subang and Seri Pantai PPR serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through resilience, dedication, and community support. Their record-breaking achievement not only brings joy to the recipients of their delicious creations but also sets a benchmark for future initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and supporting communities in need.
