SHORT+SWEET Malaysia 2024 returns, showcasing innovative performances across six genres from 21st September to 20th October at klpac.

The beloved SHORT+SWEET festival returns for its 17th season in Malaysia, offering an array of genres and creative works. Originally founded in Australia by Mark Cleary, the SHORT+SWEET festival has grown into a global sensation, captivating audiences in cities like Dubai, Los Angeles, Dublin, and Manila. With its fast-paced format and fresh, innovative content, the festival appeals especially to young, dynamic audiences.

Now in its 17th season in Malaysia, SHORT+SWEET 2024 promises a thrilling lineup of performances and events, running from 21st September to 20th October at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac).

Five Weeks of Dynamic Performances

SHORT+SWEET Malaysia 2024 kicks off with SHORT+SWEET Film, running from 21st to 22nd September, followed by SHORT+SWEET Stand-Up Comedy & Song from 27th to 29th September. The excitement continues with SHORT+SWEET Dance from 4th to 6th October, leading to the grand finale with SHORT+SWEET Musical & Theatre, held over two weekends: 11th to 12th October and 18th to 19th October. The unique format allows audiences to experience multiple performances, all under 10 minutes, ranging from the comedic to the absurd and everything in between.

Each year, the festival serves as a launching pad for emerging talents, while also attracting well-known artists to the stage. Hosted nightly by Festival Director Dato’ Dr. Faridah Merican and Festival Artistic Director Joe Hasham OAM, the event showcases a wide array of new works and artists, some of whom are established names, while others are up-and-coming talents. Audiences play an active role in the festival by voting for the Audience Choice Award in each category, adding a layer of excitement to the event.

Tickets and Festival Passes Available

Since its debut in Malaysia in 2008, SHORT+SWEET has premiered over 1,000 works and featured more than 5,500 talents. Tickets for SHORT+SWEET Film are priced at RM24, while the other categories are available at RM38 per ticket.
