Taiping Municipal Council unveils 3D murals

The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) has launched a series of 3D murals depicting the rich historical heritage of Taiping, in collaboration with the Perak Division of Malaysia’s Non-Pensioned Military Veterans Association. These murals, spread across several prominent locations, aim to showcase Taiping’s cultural significance while attracting both local and international tourists.

MPT President Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir announced the project during the launch of the Taiping City Historical Heritage Trail at the Taiping Zoo & Night Safari. The murals serve as a visual celebration of Taiping’s history and its importance in the development of the nation.

Mural locations and themes

The murals have been carefully positioned in three locations, each with its own theme. One of the most notable is at the Taiping Zoo & Night Safari, where six murals depict a range of wildlife, including tigers, beavers, giraffes, crocodiles, and snakes. A 3D suspension bridge also features prominently, adding to the zoo’s immersive experience for visitors.

“The second location is at Jalan Syed Burhan, where a 100-metre-long and 6.38-metre-high Antong Mural showcases the traditional production process of Antong Coffee.” Khairul Amir explained. This intricate artwork highlights the historical role coffee production has played in Taiping’s economy.

The third mural, located at the entrance of the city, is the ‘Welcome To Taiping’ artwork, measuring 34.7 metres wide and 16.15 metres high. This mural combines historical icons from Taiping’s past with various outdoor activities available in the city, making it a symbol of both heritage and modernity.

3D art attracts tourists

The murals, with their 3D illusions, provide a unique interactive element for visitors. Each of these murals offers a 3D effect, allowing tourists to capture engaging photos in a more relaxed mode. Razali Awang Md Noor, President of the Malaysian Non-Pensioned Military Veterans Association of Perak, was also present at the event.

The murals are expected to draw more tourists, both local and foreign, to Taiping. The project not only enhances the city’s aesthetics but also promotes Taiping as a must-visit destination for heritage and cultural tourism.

The Taiping City Historical Heritage Trail, which features these murals as key attractions, aims to solidify Taiping’s status as a cultural hub in Malaysia, blending art with history to celebrate the city’s legacy.
