My Food 2025, a dedicated platform aimed at championing local food suppliers and promoting food security, was officially pre-launched yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Organised by Montgomery Asia, the event was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham bin Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS).
The initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening Malaysia’s local food supply chains and increasing market access for homegrown producers. The full My Food Show will take place from 24 to 26 April 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together food producers, café operators, restaurateurs, and industry leaders to promote sustainable food practices and locally sourced ingredients.
Advancing Sustainable Food Practices
The pre-launch event gathered key government representatives from MAFS, the Federal Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA), and other industry stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving Malaysia’s food security.
“My Food 2025 is more than just a trade show—it’s a movement to support local food producers, connect them with key buyers, and foster sustainable business growth,” said Alun Jones, Project Director of Montgomery Asia. “By creating direct market access, we help small businesses scale, drive industry-wide change, and strengthen Malaysia’s local supply chains.”
The initiative aligns with the Slow Food movement, advocating for businesses to reduce reliance on processed foods and instead prioritise fresh, locally sourced alternatives. This shift meets growing consumer demand for nutritious and sustainable food choices.
“We are grateful for the support from FAMA, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and the Malaysia Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau (MyCEB) in making this show,” Jones added. “We are also encouraged by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security endorsement, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s local food ecosystem.”
A Dedicated Platform for Local Suppliers
The upcoming My Food Show in April 2025 aims to be a landmark event for Malaysia’s food industry, highlighting the diversity of locally produced food products and connecting suppliers with potential buyers from the café, restaurant, and retail sectors. Under the theme ‘The Flavours of Your Community,’ the event will ensure that Malaysian-made products gain the visibility and market access they deserve.
“Malaysia’s food industry is evolving, and businesses are actively looking for high-quality local ingredients,” Jones said. “My Food Show will be a one-stop platform for connecting suppliers and buyers, ensuring that locally sourced food becomes a key driver of industry growth.”
The event will feature expert discussions and workshops focusing on:
- The benefits of shorter supply chains to improve food quality and accessibility.
- Strategies for reducing carbon footprints through minimising long-distance food transportation and packaging waste.
- Educating businesses on sustainable sourcing and integrating local ingredients into their offerings.
KL Convention Centre: A Sustainability Partner
As a venue partner, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) plays a crucial role in advocating food sustainability and local sourcing.
“We are glad the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is our venue partner. Their continuous efforts through the KLCC Business Events Alliance (KLCC BEA) are putting the KLCC Precinct on the map as a sustainability hub,” said Jones. “The support of a major player is key to pioneering and driving further demand in the surrounding communities.”
With growing consumer demand for locally produced food, My Food 2025 will be an essential platform for supporting local businesses and reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to food security.
“As the F&B sector continues to evolve, there is a growing awareness of the benefits of local sourcing and sustainability,” added Jones. “My Food 2025 is an exciting platform to promote these values while offering local suppliers more exposure to businesses that want to integrate high-quality, locally sourced ingredients into their operations.”
Building Momentum for My Food 2025
As Malaysia moves towards a more self-sufficient and sustainable food future, My Food 2025 aims to create lasting opportunities for small businesses and industry players. By supporting local sourcing, reducing supply chain complexities, and minimising carbon footprints, the initiative seeks to transform Malaysia’s F&B industry.
“For exhibitors, industry players, and the public alike, My Food 2025 will be a platform for education, business growth, and collaboration,” said Jones. “This is not just a trade show—it’s a step towards transforming Malaysia’s food industry for the better.”
My Food Show 2025 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 24 to 26 April 2025. Trade visitors can attend from 24 to 25 April, while the public is welcome on 26 April.
“For exhibitors, industry players, and consumers, My Food 2025 represents more than an event—it’s a movement to reshape Malaysia’s food industry for the better,” said Jones. “We invite local producers, retailers, and businesses to be part of this journey, creating a thriving, sustainable future for Malaysia’s food economy.”
