Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the launch of the book ‘Mandate for Integrity and Governance: Malaysia MADANI’, a publication aimed at reinforcing the government’s commitment to integrity and transparent governance.
The book, a collaborative effort by the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) and the Malaysian Centre for Policy and Economic Affairs Foundation (Yayasan PEACE), compiles 30 speeches by the Prime Minister, focusing on key issues surrounding governance, anti-corruption, and public accountability. The launch event was held at Angkasapuri Kota Media.
A Push Towards a Corruption-Free Malaysia
IIM, in a statement, highlighted that the book aligns with the MADANI Government’s long-term vision of improving Malaysia’s ranking on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI). The government has set an ambitious target to position Malaysia within the top 25 countries on the CPI by 2033.
“This goal requires a collective effort from the government, the private sector, and the community through legal reforms, administrative transparency as well as continuing education on integrity,” IIM stated.
The statement further emphasized the book’s role as a vital resource for policymakers, businesses, and civil society in fostering a culture of integrity. “This book can be an important reference in efforts to shape Malaysia as a corruption-free country as well as a catalyst to create a transparent society and practice the values of integrity,” it added.
Commitment to Governance and Transparency
IIM Chief Executive Officer Rahman Mohd Din reaffirmed the institute’s dedication to promoting ethical governance through awareness programs and training initiatives.
The statement added that IIM will continue to be committed to raising awareness, providing training and becoming the main reference for the public and private sectors in improving efficient and effective governance.
The publication comes as part of a broader government-led strategy to institutionalize integrity across all levels of administration and to rebuild public trust through concrete actions and policy reforms.
A Foundation for Future Reforms
The launch event was attended by key government figures and institutional leaders. Among them were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, and Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, who also serves as IIM Chairman.
Other prominent attendees included Yayasan PEACE Chief Executive Officer Mohd Hassanal Bolqiah Mohd Yusof, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
The ‘Mandate for Integrity and Governance: Malaysia MADANI’ book launch marks a significant milestone in the MADANI administration’s pursuit of a transparent and accountable governance framework.
Through this publication, the government signals its unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and fostering a civic culture rooted in honesty and ethical responsibility. As Malaysia advances toward its 2033 CPI target, the principles outlined in the book are expected to guide policy directions and national discourse on integrity.
