AdminIJM Land has joined hands with government agencies, animal welfare groups, veterinary professionals, community organisations and volunteers in a coordinated effort to address stray animal management and promote responsible pet ownership.
The property developer’s participation in #ProjekTogetherBoleh 3.0, described as a national prevention framework by #ExecuteAWA, marks its first collaboration with the initiative and makes IJM Land the first property developer to support the programme.
Held in Seremban, the initiative was jointly driven by Negeri Sembilan-based animal welfare organisations NS Happy Paws and FurryKids SafeHaven, with support from the Seremban District Information Department.
The organisers said the collaboration recognises that Malaysia’s stray animal challenges require more than reactive measures, with long-term solutions involving sterilisation, vaccination, identification, responsible ownership and community participation.
Prevention, responsible ownership at centre of programme
The programme is structured around three key pillars — “PREVENT” through sterilisation, “PROTECT” through vaccination, and “PROVE” through microchipping and responsible management.
It also promotes #ExecuteTNVRM, #AdoptDontShop and responsible pet ownership, while encouraging communities to engage constructively with issues such as controlled feeding, hygiene and concerns surrounding stray dogs.
NS Happy Paws chairman Jude Ignatius Lazaroo said the initiative was intended to help communities coexist safely and responsibly with animals rather than expecting everyone to become animal lovers.
“The objective is not to expect everyone to love animals. It is to help communities learn how to coexist safely, responsibly and respectfully with our animals through active community engagement opportunities.”
He said continued communication with local authorities would also be important in developing greater understanding of animal welfare challenges and applying data-driven solutions.
The initiative builds on earlier #ProjekTogetherBoleh activities in Negeri Sembilan, including its launch with the Rembau District Council in November 2025 and its first corporate partnership with Millennia Village in June 2026.
Seremban expands efforts for humane stray management
FurryKids SafeHaven president Kiran Bhatt said the programme complements ongoing efforts by the Majlis Bandaraya Seremban to strengthen stray dog management through licensing, sterilisation incentives, rescue operations, microchipping and collaboration with NGOs and government agencies.
She said stakeholders should use past shortcomings as an opportunity to adopt approaches that are more humane, informed and sustainable for both communities and animals.
#ExecuteAWA founder Sue Ann Kong said the initiative was not intended as a one-off campaign, but an ongoing platform inviting government agencies, local authorities, NGOs, corporations, veterinarians and communities to work together based on facts and evidence.
As part of IJM Land’s Paws To Home community event, the programme recorded 31 sterilisation procedures, six successful adoptions and 12 pet licence applications, alongside vaccination and microchipping activities.
IJM Land also contributed RM1,000 in support of NS Happy Paws and FurryKids SafeHaven, recognising their continued work in addressing animal welfare challenges in Negeri Sembilan.
The organisers said the broader objective is to shift attention from managing existing stray populations towards preventing unwanted animals from being born or abandoned, while embedding animal welfare into the way communities are planned, managed and lived in.
