Yulianus Rettoblaut or popularly known as Mami Yuli announced on Friday that she wanted to represent Indonesia’s transgender community in the country’s National Commission on Human Rights (Komnnas-Ham).
Yuli who holds a law degree said that cases implicating transgenders have never been resolved and she is looking forward to fill the void to solve those problems.
Yuli spoke to the reporters outside of Human Rights commission’s after submitting her application to become one of the commissioners
The National Commission on Human Rights was set up in Indonesia in 1993 and is an independent state agency charged with monitoring and mediation of human rights issues.
