Tan Kai SweeThe Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Sri Andalas is celebrating Navaratri on a grand scale.
This temple was originally built in 1900 and later left idle until a group of people formed a committee and rebuilt the temple. It was then called the Tamil Bayan Estate Temple, which later changed its name to the present Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
This is the only indian temple in Sri Andalas, Taman Goodwood, Klang Jaya area and more than a 1000 devotees regularly come here for worship and other activities.
The temple organises a lot of activities for children and adults including children development and yoga classes. The temple focuses not only on religious activities but also social development and empowerment programmes so that children can grow up well equipped to face the world.
The temple regularly conducts violin, yoga, thevaram,religious and self development, monthly amavasai, monthly pournami and Bharathanatiyam classes.
Today, the temple is celebrating the 9 day Naravatri Celebration and at hand is Sivakumar Gurukal to conduct the celebration, a high priest from Southern India.
Navaratri is celebrated in honour of Divine Mother’s victory over Mahishasura.
The first three days of Navaratri worship is dedicated to Goddess Durga, the second three days to Goddess Lakshmi and the last three days to Goddess Saraswati.
