Inadequate and improper channels to seek information are the core problems faced by the public when dealing with technical questions pertaining to the hiring of foreign workers and domestic maids, said Puchong Public Complaint Bureau chief Kuan Chee Heng.
Hence, Kuan is inviting the public to attend a dialogue co-hosted by Immigration Department director-general Alias Ahmad on December 3, 9am to 1pm, at SMK Pusat Bandar Puchong 2.
“The director-general will explain the department’s policies on the 6P program, domestic maids or foreign worker employment, visa application and the like,”
“Foreign students in Malaysia can also attend the dialogue to learn more on ways of getting a work permit if they wish to work in the country after their graduation,” he said.
He said the dialogue is organised to ensure that the public is given a proper channel for their grievances.
“Too often we see the Prime Minister announcing something at the top level, but people at the grassroot are not clear about the details,” he added.
Puchong’s immigration department to be upgraded
Meanwhile, the Immigration Department has agreed to Kuan’s suggestion of upgrading its over-crowded office in Taman Puchong Utama.
According to Kuan, the department has agreed to open another three counters on the first floor above the existing office, which will be equipped with 50 chairs.
Upon its completion, the first floor counters will cater for the able-bodied applicants while the ground floor will be made into a senior citizen and disabled designated counters.
Passport collection and identification card applications can still be done on the ground floor.
Kuan thanked the Immigration Department for providing better service to the people. He will now look into getting designated parking lots for the underprivileged.
