The king of fruits is back! This time in abundance, as the community here organised a Jom Makan Durian event at an orchard in Kampung Charok Tok Latah.

The king of fruits is back! This time in abundance, as the community here organised a Jom Makan Durian event at an orchard in Kampung Charok Tok Latah.

Over 300 durian lovers from the surrounding area gathered for the event organised by Pemuda UMNO Kubang Pasu and Rela of Wang Tepus County.

Durian Orchard owner, Jauhari Idris, 53, said that every durian season, they would have a durian party but it was never held at such a vast scale.

“We gave the durian lovers an opportunity to enjoy the fruit amidst the natural and cool surroundings of the orchard” he said.

UMNO Kubang Pasu Youth Leader, Aminuddin Omar, said that he was very happy to have been part of this event which was organised differently from the previous years.  He also said that he hoped such events would further strengthen the unity of the UMNO youth members.

With the durian seasons starts the mushrooming of “car boot” sale where you will find petty durian sellers setting up small stalls all over the state’s busiest roads to promote the fruit and a variety of other local fruits which come in season at the same time like the rambutan and mangosteen.
