Tomoi enthusiast are in for a treat following the upcoming International Tomoi Z1-Menara Alor Setar Championship to be held on 16th dan 17th of July, and its free!

Tomoi (kick-boxing) enthusiasts are in for a treat following the upcoming International Tomoi Z1-Menara Alor Setar Championship to be held on the 16 and 17 July, and admission is free!

Jointly organised by Alor Setar Tower Management and Zee One International Sdn Bhd with the co-operation of the Kedah state economic planning unit, the event is to promote the Alor Setar Tower and Kedah as an international destination for Tomoi tournaments.

Alor Setar Tower’s general manager, Hariyati Tahir, said that apart from local contestants, the will be contenders from the US, Thailand, Croatia and Iran.

“This championship receives recognition from both the Muay Thai Association of Malaysia and Kedah Tomoi Association,” she said.

“The public will be able to watch the matches for free,” confirmed Hariyati.

Tomoi is form of martial art from Malaysia that is closely related to other Indo-chinese boxing styles, such as as Muay Thai in Thailand, Pradal Serey in Cambodia, Muay Lao in Laos and Lethwei in Myanmar. It is practised mainly in the northern states such as Kedah and Terengganu and, especially, in Kelantan.
