Ministry of Defence: Set up more veteran’s associations

Ex-servicemen have been urged to set up more veteran’s organizations and associations to help ex- servicemen to enhance their socio-economic status and welfare.

Ex-servicemen have been urged to set up more ex-servicemen organizations and associations to help ex- servicemen to enhance their socio-economic status and welfare.

Minister of Defence Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said such organizations would focus on the welfare of ex-servicemen all the time and strengthen their associations.

“There are 43 associations set up for ex-servicemen and we will continue to encourage the setting up of more to ensure the welfare of those who retire from service.

“However, the setting of such organizations or associations should not be for the benefit of any individual but for all ages, races and religion,” he told reporters after launching Persatuan Veteran Tentera Melayu (PVTM) at the Ministry of Defence.

Ahmad Zahid said those who wished to form or set up ex-servicemen’s organization, association or club must first register with Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran (JHEV) so that any assistance or funding can be channeled to such organizations.
