The daily traffic congestion problem in Ulu Tiram town is now over with the opening of the recently completed 1.35 km flyover here yesterday.

Built at a cost of RM51.8 million, traffic flows between Johor Bahru to Kota Tinggi will be much smoother.

“This upgraded infrastructure will facilitate road users to go about their daily routines”, said Ismail Ibrahim, the CEO of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).

This is one of the eight infrastructure projects to be carried out by the IRDA under the 9th Malaysian Plan which stated in 2010.

We are proud that the Ulu Tiram flyover project was completed three months ahead of scheduled completion date which is June, 2011, he added.

IRDA is thankful to the government support in allocating the project to us and at the same time to the public who have been very patience in putting up with the inconveiences during the construction period. Ismail was speaking to reporters in a press conference here yesterday.

Li Ah Keng, 61, a resident who has been residing in this town for over 40 years, said that the flyover will certainly ease the traffic congestion in Ulu Tiram town.

“It will surely allow road users now to feel more comfortable to travel around the town”, he added with a sigh of great relief.
