A kindergarten teacher was stabbed to death on scene in an unsuccessful robbery attempt on a pedestrian bridge near 3C Complex at Taman Sunway yesterday.

According to Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Zainal Rashid, 57-year-old Leong Lai Yong was shouting for help when confronted by a knife-wheeling man around 7am.

The man, who attempted to snatch Leong’s purse, stab the latter on her left rib during the struggle before fleeing away.

Witnesses tried to save the victim but she was officially pronounced dead after the ambulance arrived. Her body was sent to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem, according to Zainal.

Police believes the suspect is in his 20s.

Leong, who resides at Shah Alam, has been in the profession for 30 years.
