Medical relief for Chew Jetty folks

Residents of the Chew Jetty in Penang recently received free medical treatment after the 28th Outreach Free Specialist Medical Camp was held at the water villages along Weld Quay last month.

Residents of the Chew Jetty in Penang recently received free medical treatment after the 28th Outreach Free Specialist Medical Camp was held at the water villages along Weld Quay last month.

Sivasanta Free Specialist Clinic, Mega Caring Activist, Penang Bodhi Heart Sanctuary and Blissful Group were among the organizations collaborated to organize this camp on 25th July.

The various activity conducted at the camp included a free foot massage clinic, free health check-ups conducted by specialists and giving out free medicines.

“It’s shocking to know that many youngsters here are at the beginning stage of diabetes, and also have high blood pressure,” said P.Murugiah from the Sivasanta Free Specialist Clinic.

The camp was conducted by volunteers from all age groups, including youths and students.

M.Ranjciita, 21, a nursing student at the Penang Nursing College, said she enjoys participating in camps and that it also speeds up her learning process; thanks to handling different type of cases and guiding patients during the camps.

The outreach camp is conducted once every month- with the objective of raising health awareness among the lower income group.
