A show for the tigers

Five celebrities will compete for the title of WWF-Malaysia’s Tx2 Tiger Ambassador. The Tx2 tiger conservation campaign was launched in February 2010 with the aim of doubling the number of wild tigers in Malaysia, and the world, by the next Year of Tiger (2022).

Launched in conjunction with Earth Day and the Chinese Year of the Tiger, the celebrities involved are: Aishah Sinclair, Jeremy Teo of RedFM, Mooky of One Buck Short, Rina Omar and Sazzy Falak.

Speaking at the launch, WWF-Malaysia’s executive director/CEO Dionysius Sharma said, “What is amazing but not fully appreciated is that Malaysia has the second largest tiger population in the world. However proud we are of this fact, we must not forget that the threats to these remaining 500 magnificent tigers still exist.”

The public is invited to vote online for their favourite celebrities from 26 April. Each week will see five new clips by the five celebrities uploaded online, and the public is encouraged to vote every week for each new set of clips. Alternatively, the public can sms in their votes*. Voting closes on World Biodiversity Day, 22 May 2010.
