KITA named 4 candidates to contest in Kedah

SUNGEI PETANI – President of Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (KITA), Zaid Ibrahim, has announced that the party will be contesting in Kedah for the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat and the three state seats of Bukit Selambau, Sungai Tiang and Gurun respectively.

President of Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (KITA), Zaid Ibrahim, has announced that the party will be contesting for four seats in Kedah in the upcoming 13 general election, here, yesterday.

He went on to reveal the four short-listed candidates who will be contesting in the 13GE.

They are businessman and former Sungai Petani councillor, Suhaimi Hashim, 49, state party chairman Kamal Naseer Thow Beek, 49, businessman Cherean a/l Isen, 34, and businessman, Ong Choon Seng, 42.

Suhaimi, will be contesting for the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat, while Kamal, Cherean and Ong will contest for the Bukit Selambau, Sungai Tiang and Gurun state legislative seats, respectively.

The Sungai Petani parliamentary seat is currently held by Johari Abdul of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), while Bukit Selambau, Sungai Tiang and Gurun state seats are held by Manikumar Subramaniam of PKR, Suraya Yaacob of UMNO and Leong Yong Kong of MCA, respectively.

Zaid, who is a former de-facto law minister in the Prime Minister’s department reiterated and said, the four named seats are by no means the only seats that KITA will be contesting in the coming general election.

As for the other constituencies which the party will be contesting shall only be revealed when the time is right which will be announced in stages, he added.

He later hinted that KITA will also be fielding a number of candidates in Sabah, Johor, Kelantan, and the Federal Territories for both the parliamentary as well as state seats but categorically ruled out Sarawak, Terengganu and Perlis which has no KITA branch there.
