Two caught distributing slandering flyers

In a 3.40am incident recently, two men were caught by members of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) for leaving a bundle of political flyers under a tree near to a PR political activity banner in Kampung Teluk Ramunia, Pengerang, Kota Tinggi, here.

The Johor opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) claimed that more than 10,000 of such flyers were found to be in circulation in and around Pengerang.

Pengarang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth information chief, Syed Abdullah Syed Abdul Mutalib, who caught the two culprits with the help of several party members said, we were having a tea break at a nearby stall when we observed a car was wheezing to and fro before stopping at the spot where we hung our political banner.

“We saw a man alighting from the said car and placed something under the tree near our political activity banner and left abruptly”, he said.

“We rushed over to the spot and found political flyers slandering leaders of the opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and also accused PAS of being a cheating political party”, said Syed Abdullah who was relating the incident to reporters in a press conference here yesterday.

Also present at the press conference were Bakri MP, Er Teck Hwa and Johor PAS youth chief, Suhaizan Kaiyat.

Yahya Maspiie, the Pengarang PKR deputy chief, said, while the police were questioning the two culprits, he overheard during them telling the police that they were from the police force and we also saw a police emblem sticker on the culprits’ car windscreen.

“I am not certain whether the two culprits were indeed from the police force”, Yahya added.

Meanwhile, the Pengarang branch PKR chief, Zulkifli Daud, said, they want the police to investigate the case thoroughly.

He said, “if ever the two culprits want to be involved in politic, then they should do so by talking or debate it out based on facts and not just mere wild and baseless accusation and slandering.
