If you are looking for unconditional love this Valentine, adopt a furry sweetheart.
Independent dog rescue group Second Chance is holding a Valentine’s Open House this weekend to find loving homes for some 50 adorable puppies and dogs.
Its temporary shelter at 3 ½ mile at Old Klang Road, behind Wisma Buddhist, will be open to public on 18-19 February from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Little Bear, a six-month old sharpie cross, is among the pups waiting for a loving family. Second Chance coordinator Tracy Ho said Bear was rescued from a car workshop after all his siblings were run down on the street.
Despite a bad start in life, Ho said Bear has a resilient spirit and is very good natured. Bear has been vaccinated and neutered and ready for his new home.
Second Chance was formerly known as Paws Mission, set up in 2009. Ho said the group has been renamed to better reflect its core principle of helping stray and abandoned animals find a new lease of life.
“We hope, through funds raised and donated, to give these dogs the best possible care until they find a second chance at a loving home. Our shelter is now overflowing with dogs and puppies. Please adopt a dog and they will be your Valentine every day of the year,” Ho said.
Ho said the group’s current shelter will be torn down soon for development. She said Second Chance plans to rent a one- acre piece of land in Hulu Langat and is urgently raising $100,000 to build a new shelter.
“It is already a financial strain to care for our 150 dogs and pups but we need to accelerate work on the ground to construct a new shelter before we get evicted.
We appeal for donations to help ensure our furry friends will have a roof over their head,” she added.
